Abt Electronics is an independent family-owned retailer in the United States of consumer electronics, major appliances, and furniture. Abt operates 880,000 square feet at a single location in Glenview, Illinois, on 70 acres of land.  Abt has been online since 1997.  Abt Electronics now distributes products from coast to coast in the US. The company has operated in the Chicago Market since 1936.

Partnership with SKKR

SKKR opened Abt Electronics in 1988 by partnering to sell popular brands, such as, Weber Products and Vornado. SKKR attends all of their instore Private Sales throughout the year as well as any other instore events that go on throughout the year. SKKR was the first Rep agency to bring grilling demonstrations to their store.
We work closely with all of Abt’s individual teams to bring new creative ideas to grow their business, training, PO execution and managing their inventory levels.    SKKR looks forward to continuing our long- term relationship with the entire Abt Family.

Abt Electronics History

Founded in 1936 by Jewel and Bob Abt, which was eventually taken over to run by their son Bob Abt.  The business has remained in the third generation of family leadership. Currently it is run by David and Jewel’s grandsons- Mike, Ricky, Jon and Billy Abt. Abt is located in Glenview, Illinois.


Abt evolved from a modest storefront into a retail destination. The nation’s largest independently – owned, single- location retailer of electronics, appliances and home goods.
Other highlights: Abt has a 30,000 sq foot recycling center, part of Abt’s green commitment.  It handles over 95% of it’s own facilities waste.


A rooftop solar array with thousands of panels which provide significant clean energy, supplemented by rainwater harvesting and EV charging stations.


Their online store offers free nationwide shipping, live chat and full customer support from their Glenview, Illinois location.
Abt employees 1,600- 1,700+ people, all dedicated to delivering exceptional customer experience. Abt is the only store in the country to carry Apple products, which is a store within a store concept.
